So Why Admonish The Devoted?
In the Western Democratic Utopias in which our readership (mostly) lives, every so often The Common People get to decide which faces will appear in the collective consciousness for the following four or five years. This ritual- an exciting two-sided gladitorial contest- captures our attention so completely that we can barely think of anything else; And whatever the outcome- Win or lose- we are comforted by the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing that things will ultimately continue as before. The State, in return for adherence to her Principles, promises to not put Well Behaved People in jail- Unless she makes an incredibly rare silly mistake. She welcomes and appreciates sacrifices from her Flock so much that she sometimes bestows HolyDays upon them. All said- What’s not to like about the State?
Ungrateful Misfits
Despite all the wonderful things the State does for them, there are some who suffer from the extraordinary delusion they can do any better; Whilst we might laugh and poke fun at cretinous ideas of “liberty” “free speech” and “justice”, the fact remains that some such people are serious and willing to make sacrifices for their grand delusions. Hence they must be considered extremely dangerous criminal masterminds.
